Seriously social!!!

So the past week I have been playing the social butterfly and spending time with good friends and family. Tuesday I had coffee with Sherri...as usual there was good conversation, and laughter while enjoying the air conditioning at the local Tim Horton's, where I had my semi-annual donut!
Wednesday we adventured down to the Taste of Edmonton with Andrea and her husband Mike, Marguerite and her husband Brent. It was very busy, but very fun, and nice to spend sometime outside enjoying the good food and great friends.
Thursday Anthony, Nathan and I went to Capital Ex to take in the sights and sounds, and also to see "Walking with the Dinosaurs" which was so awesome, especially the T-Rex. Nathan also managed to go on some rides, and he is quite the ride junkie, just like his Mom. We stayed late to be able to see the fireworks. That was Nathan's first time seeing fireworks in person, and he thought they were pretty cool.
Friday I went with Andrea for supper on Whyte Avenue. We were feeling adventurous so we tried out a new restaurant called Cafe Mosaics. I have walked by it many times, and had always wanted to try it out, and Andrea was up for something different so we went. It is a vegetarian restaurant, and very good...especially the vegan chocolate cake which was so yummy...mmm mmm good! Then we browsed some of the neat little shops, and had a fun time at Chapters looking at the bargain books, and the little "extras" there.
Sunday my parents took the 3 of us out for brunch at the Nisku Inn. We haven't done this for awhile so it was very nice. We also stopped to check out IKEA, which is always fun.
This evening I'm off to go golfing with the girls. I haven't golfed in quite awhile so this could be interesting.
I think I'm going to need a few days to recuperate from this social schedule!!!

While my social schedule has been very full, my creative schedule has been a little empty, but I did manage to finally finish the wedding canvas I was working on for my sister-in-law Marcy, and my new brother-in-law Jon. This was my first attempt at a canvas, and I'm pleased with how it turned out. A HUGE thanks for super Andrea, for letting me completely lift her awesome canvas, and also for picking out the beautiful KI paper....love ya Andrea!!!!

Hope you have a great week!

A little bit of scrappiness...

I did this layout for a design team call. I didn't have any luck with the call, but entering made me go outside my comfort zone, which in the long run is a good thing. This is the first page just about me that I've ever scrapped, and I have to say I'm still not really comfortable with it, but here it is anyhow.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Feeling hot, hot, hot...

please could we have a break from the 30c temperatures. I know the summer had a slow start, and everyone was waiting for some nice weather, but I think I need a break from this heat. It's just too hot to be able to do anything in the house, and even our basement tends to heat up later in the day. My poor dogs are having a hard time staying cool, and so am I. Maybe a trip to the store to buy a kiddie pool is in order, and we can all have a dip in the nice cold hose water...Ha!

So on the weekend we had Anthony's sister's wedding, and my Nathan was the ring bearer. I was a little worried, no actually a lot worried, that he would not be able to sit through the whole ceremony (which was an hour), but he did an awesome job, and behaved himself, even though the church was unbelievably hot because there was no air conditoning! After the ceremony we went to the Legislature grounds for pictures, and he looked like such a little man I just had to have him pose for this picture. This was his first "dress up" occasion, and he actually picked out his own outfit. He had it all planned out, and was very excited to be able to wear a tie. He practiced wearing it around the house for a week before the wedding.

At the dance he had a lot of fun watching the very pretty bridesmaids, and junior bridesmaids dance, although he was too shy to actually dance with them, although I did catch him a few times practicing his moves while sitting in his chair. He was also pretty excited to be able to sit behind the bar and help the bartender by filling the glasses with ice. Maybe he was practicing for his future profession.

So not much else is up in this little corner...yesterday was spent recovering from the busy weekend, and I think the rest of the week will be spent trying to find ways to stay cool.

Hope you can all find your own little spot to stay cool...have a great week!
